This apparent nature of human mind to extract simplicity from complexity all around led us to believe in God and/or Gods. For people of Christian faith, this became the concept of the holy trinity, for Islams the concept of Allah and for Hindus Brahman, the supreme source of creation. But think for a moment, and you’ll see that all these religions only led us to wars, battles, strife, competition and bias. Why? Because not one of the existing religions is actually backed by science. Year after year more and more people obsessed with power and control took the reins and headed the system. Instead of giving people peace and joy, these many religions gave us pain. They clouded our judgement, made us God-fearing rather than God-loving, interfered with our ability to use science and logic to guide ourselves ahead. Superstitions grew as a result, and degraded us further.What is one to say about the evil ‘Sati’ custom of the Hindus? The drastic circumcision of the Islams and Jews? The burning of uncountable intellectuals by Christian churches? How many of these religions have actually contributed to our well being? None, in my opinion. The principal reason behind the failure of all of these religions is that, they could not keep pace with growing understanding of nature, and furthermore instead of simplifying the nature all around on the basis of a firm yet simple moral code to guide humanity, they became complicated themselves!
I have studied the Vedas, the Vedantas, parts of the holy Bible, Qaran, Norwegian Eddas and Sagas, Greek scriptures, parts of Vendidad etc. And found them all to be incapable of properly guiding men. Why? Because they are way too complicated to be studied properly and have accumulated unnecessary jots over the centuries. How many of you, today’s population, can actually spare enough time or wish to go through them all? To make life even more complicated by following these unnecessary religion practices which by themselves won’t yield anything? How many of you are rather willing to believe in something backed by logic?
The best option is to be an atheist or agnostic, whatever floats your boat. But believe me, even after months of staying as an agnostic, I feel it difficult at times to drive my thoughts away from the influence of ‘God’. So, like Buddha and Aristotle said regarding ‘golden mean’, let us find a sort of mean between extreme atheism and theism.
I call myself a follower of ‘Neo-Aryan religion’, a ‘religion’ practically thought of by me, although I should be honest by admitting that I took a number of concepts from Vedas, Qaran, Bible, Eddas, Greek and Roman faith, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Parsi faith, Tao faith and nearly everything else. But why exactly should I follow this system of assumptions (none of which can be backed by logic) rather than just being hardcore atheist or agnostic? Because of the following reasons:
- Perfect agnosticism or atheism is difficult to follow and maintain.
- This system of assumptions makes my life easier, by simplifying the complexity all around.
- I can derive new ideas from this system, to guide myself in my walk of life.
- I am the ultimate authority in my religion, and so is anyone else following the very same. There is no priest, no Mullah, no ‘Father’ etc. Required to mediate, and as such I can easily modify my ideas with the development of scientific understanding.
- It gives me hope, and without hope we can not live on.
So, let me share with you some of my ideas. First of all, I’ve assumed the presence of three determining factors or influences working all around, which I’ve further assumed to be three primary powers or ‘Gods’ watching us all the time. These three ‘Gods’ are:Nature, i.e the entire universe. Nature is all-powerful, but is a chaotic deterministic system. He can not be prayed to, because he doesn’t have a mind to answer our prayers. He is the creator of everything, because from him, from the nature, we arose. He is too random to understand, at times unleashing his fury in the form of Tsunami and at times blessing us with life-giving rains. He is himself governed by the laws of space and time, the very laws physics is trying to understand. Thus, nature is the unimaginably powerful neutral God. But rather, I’d prefer to term him the ‘battleground’ or arena, the stage from where everything emerges.
Entropy, darkness or evil, the disorder, whom I often visualize as a dragon or serpent, mainly because he has some similarities with that of Vrtra of the Vedas or Iormungandr of the Eddas. Since I am from Indo-European faith of Vedism (a sub-branch of Hinduism), and it is well-known that nearly all Indo-European religions contain the mythical account of battle between a hero/God and a serpent/dragon to signify the battle between light and darkness, I chose Entropy to be like a dragon. You may visualize him to be something else. As evident by now, darkness is the lord of everything evil, and thus it influences all sorts of disorder or malice in the human society. All people who are following the path of wrongs are actually worshipping and empowering darkness. Every crime committed, ranging from murders to robberies, from genocide to torturing, is actually the worship of darkness. Every criminal, every person who commits wrongs deliberately is actually a servant of darkness.
Light, order, justice, good, the undying flame, the personification of everything good and radiant. He is known by many names, and is worshipped across all borders. Some many call him God, some Allah, some Shiva or Visnu, some Ahura Mazda, some Elohim, but we must remember that he is not all-powerful, almighty. Why? Because simple it appears thus. Do we see good things happening all around all the time? No, rather there is an eternal battle going on between good and evil in all parts of the society. So, like the Parsi Ahura Madza, or the lesser Gods of Hinduism such as Indra or Mitra, I’ve imagined light to be mighty, but not almighty. But light I’ve imagined to be omniscient. So, light reveals everything, and dispels darkness. I’ve imagined light to be personified as a great warrior, wielding his mighty bow and sword, his face way too glorious to be pictured, the army of darkness trembling at his glance. And I’ve named him ‘the mightiest of the Aryans’, or ‘Aryashreshtha’, why? Because in my definition, an Aryan is he who is noble. Literally, ‘Arya’ is a Sanskrit term which itself means noble. Thus, there is no connection with racists or Nazis. I’m just using the actual meaning of the word. Also, as far as I know, Hitler didn’t copyright the word. ;)The entire universe is therefore logically the battleground between Aryashreshtha and darkness. I’ve yet to find a suitable name to denote darkness or evil or chaos or disorder. But to some extent, we can consider him slightly similar to Ahriman of the Parsi faith. You can either serve light or darkness, the choice is yours. If you drown yourself into sins (and here ‘sin’ is actually committing anything that is against the moral law of humanity), you’re worshipping darkness. If you’re battling entropy, you’re serving light.Every single process taking place everywhere in the human world is actually a battle between light and darkness. Let me elaborate my statement. Imagine a scenario. You get up on the morning of day X, do not take your bath, do not brush your teeth, sit idly all the day, do not cook and do not do anything useful. How will you feel at the night? Horrible, if you’re like me. Your day has been a mess, you are stinking, you feel tired, very tired indeed, hungry, weak, irritated and devastated. Now, get up early on the morning of day Y, take an early morning bath. Go for morning walk, water your plants, brush your teeth twice, complete your tasks well. At the end of the day, you’re seeing that you feel elated. Tired, and a little bit exhausted maybe, but overjoyed to enjoy the hard-earned respite. You sleep soundly with pleasure.In the first scenario, you’re serving darkness. Why? Because you’re committing crime against yourself by not performing your duty. Everything that is good, from maintaining a good hygiene to being nice towards your family, is an act of good, and thus a service to light. As you progress more, you’re elevated in your service of light. Maintain a constant force on a moving body and it accelerated. Likewise, maintain a constant routine and perform good tasks, and you accelerate towards good and triumph.
