Destroyer of worlds

Destroyer of worlds

(Shiva, the Lord of Lords, destroyer of the worlds and restorer of the harmonic balance in the universe. Here is my humble hymn sung in his praise, in the form of a humble poem I wrote)

When the final evening of the final day,
Merges into the night's eternal gray,
When waves rise to devour the sands
Of deserts and snow of frigid lands,

He comes, the very harmony of nature shakes,
With his ominous roar, he tears and he breaks,
The laws binding light and binding the dark;
Ignited by fury, his eyes emanate the spark

Of chaos, signalling the end, the very tune of doom,
Alike he ends the world, its happiness and gloom,
The very fabric of existence cracks,
Beaten by his steps, along his dance tracks.

As he dances from the west to east
Drowned are the souls of man and beast,
Into Chaos's ruinous, all-consuming flow,
Below his harmonic rhythm, his infinite glow,

O hear! The wild laughter of the Lord,
As he consumes the soul of each demon and god,
He shatters space, while time stands still,
While laws of nature before the destroyer kneel.

The immensity of his matchless strength,
Tears asunder the universe's length,
As he annihilates the heavens more,
The hells trembling before his wild roar!

He consumes the fires of the last giant star,
And wrecks the foundations and fabrics of nature,
He juggles around fabrics of the laws,
With his moves he frees existence, from its flaws.

His fierce roar echoes beyond space,
As he consumes light and devours darkness,
He hurls his glory in his trident,
As the singularity of nature stands bent.

He freezes the galaxies and erases trace of time,
Staggering the ruins of the ruined Jotunheim,
Valhalla and Olympus, and heaven and hell,
All drown into nothingness, beyond reality's veil.

The defeaning rhythm of his chaotic dance,
Stagger the void and reality burns,
From ashes of the old universe's pyre
He calls forth the air and fire,

He summons the birth of reality sublime,
As his drum signals the rebirth of time,
He calls forth the birth of a new age,
As he turns into joy, his once-limitless rage.

With gleam of compassion and mercy,
His once-fierce face now fills with glee,
As he reforms the very time and space,
The laws of nature are rained by his grace.

His tunes fill the new world with joy,
As joyously he makes every metal and alloy,
Every mountain and tree, every rock and hill,
Now before the creator, they kneel.

He makes forth the galaxies and lights up the sun,
Beyond planets and moons his tunes run
Into the hearts of his children reborn,
Each his beloved daughter or son.

Blessed by him, life thrives and gleams,
The moon decorates his crown with its beams,
The Ganges resumes her eternal, unceasing flow,
Blessed by his aura, his divine glow.

Calm, composed, he regains his meditative pose,
As around him, time itself slows,
Immersed in the depths of meditative state,
The Lord smiles, and resumes his wait...
