SUVI ROM V6 Jupiter Review for Micromax A110 Canvas 2

| One of the most celebrated ROM series for A110 |
Up and till version 5.1 Iris, the talented developer 'bsuhas' had based SUVI on Ulefone Star ROM series, obviously after making it bug-free and smooth for running on Canvas 2. One of the main features of SUVI series is the dual set of upgrades, major upgrades like V5 Helios, which are large flashable packages installing new OS modules on the phone, and minor upgrades like V5.1 Iris, which just add more features to existing installation, or else fixes bugs.
But recently, Micromax has kept their promise and against almost all expectations, they've released an upgrade to Jellybean 4.1.1 for Canvas 2. This is a major advancement for an Indian company, and is sure to make Micromax gain more fame as a local brand, that really cares for its customers (even with its limited resources). Although previous we did enjoy official Mobistel Cynus T2 Jellybean upgrade on A110, the kernel that Micromax has released is not only much better (being primarily tailor-made for this device), but adds a couple of smoothness tweaks and modifications to get the best out of A110.

| The default interface. of SUVI V6 |
As of version 6, SUVI is based on the official Micromax upgrade (codenamed 'V3 Official'). While this may dishearten some of us who actually used to enjoy enhanced capabilities of front camera (1.3 MP) and that of the main one (12 MP) in previous versions of SUVI, in my opinion this is yet the best version of SUVI released yet.
The major advantages of V6 Jupiter over its predecessors are as follows:
1. Clearer camera quality: Micromax A110 is powered by MediaTek Dual Core processor, whose maximum capacity is to support photos upto 8 MP resolution. Although by flashing Mobistel or similar ROMs we can actually shoot photos of 12 MP resolution (4000x3000 pixels), as per many the clarity of the shots were affected to an extent, because of pixel-duplication. I had tried a lot to bring the camera back to 8 MP on Mobistel and previous SUVI ROMs, but it didn't just occur. I did find a way however, that was by flashing JB 4.2 camera on previous ROMs. But while that brought 8 MP camera back, it simply ruined the quality. We could also set the camera manually back to 8 MP from 12 MP and set sharpness to high, but even that didn't seem to help much. The beauty of Official V3 ROM or SUVI V6 Jupiter (based on V3) is that, it brings the same good camera quality (with razor-sharp shots) back.
Some might still want to bring back their 12 MP main camera, simply for resolution, but remember, that just increases the size. And it's possibly easy. I'll mention steps to do that in another post, soon.
2. Increased smoothness and quadrant scores: Yes, V3 is smooth, but still it has some Micromax bloatware. Who would want to play Fruit Devil by the way, when we can install a series of different games as per our likes from the playstore? SUVI V6 has removed such annoyances, and we've an even increased level of smoothness. In fact, really speaking, this is the smoothest ROM I've ever used on Micromax A110.

3. Enhanced FM, Music Player and Calculator apps: The Official Micromax Upgrade provided these already, and V6 Jupiter retained them nicely. The FM quality is superb here in Kolkata. Music Player app has also been enhanced.
4. Better sound and music quality: Like previous releases of SUVI, sound and music quality, level and clarity are already tweaked. One problem that many users reported with Mobistel or similar ROMs is the uneven audio output from their headphones. SUVI has always been free of that issue, and even now it is, thankfully so.
5. Extended battery life: While ROMs for other similar devices such as Mobistel, Lewa and MyPhone919 can be cool, limited battery life was a major problem with them while being installed on A110 (after all, they weren't made for this device). Now that Micromax has released the official kernel for Jellybean on this device, SUVI V6 inplements and utilises it by maximizing battery efficiency. Even with moderate gaming, music and video experiences, I can honestly say that the battery lasts for more than 1.5 days once charged fully.
6. Superb video clarity: This is a major improvement, as of V6 SUVI incorporates Sony's legendry creation the BRAVIA engine for display. Watching HQ videos is really a breeze. The music-video of Taylor Swift provided with the official Micromax upgrade looks beautiful, just heavenly, on this device.
7. Awesome gaming quality: I personally found no glitches with moderate to high gaming, and all this is due to Micromax and SUVI combined.

8. Freedom from the 0% Battery dead bug: This was a severe bug in previous versions of SUVI which I'd already mentioned in a previous post. Whenever the battery just went down to 0%, you could no longer charge the device at all, or start it up in any way. The only procedure to recover it, as I'd done personally, was to flash V2 Official ROM with flash tools, re-flash SUVI ROM and get back everything, that ruined a couple of evenings of mine. But now, since SUVI uses the official kernel, this problem has vanished.
9. Text to Speech working without errors: Previously, native TTS support was lacking and whenever we tried to install Speech Synsthesizer data, it just failed. I did discover a workaround, by install IVONA TTS engine for better TTS capabilities, but it's just massive to install, and many would simply like the default system better. As of version 6, SUVI natively supports TTS without bugs.
The GPS hasn't yet been tested by me, and I'll be reporting soon on how it works. Sensors are just working well so far. One major problem however is the lack of TV Out feature, which I believe we'd be able to implement soon. Another major disappointment I personally feel is the integration of TouchWiz interface, which is just plain bad (but that's a matter of taste) and slow, compared to other launchers like LauncherPro.
All in all, I can honestly say that SUVI V6 Jupiter is the best custom ROM released for Micromax A110 yet.
HOW TO INSTALL:
[This is also to be found on XDA, written by bsuhas himself, but many of my friends said the main XDA page for SUVI has become a little bit crowded, complicated for new users to follow. So, I am re-writing it here]
1. Take a CWM backup of your current ROM.
2. Install Official Micromax Jellybean Upgrade using Flashtools (the best method in my opinion). Follow this guide.
3. Root Official ROM by first flashing CWM once again by the process mentioned on the same page HERE and then flash the SU binaries using CWM.
4. Once your phone is rooted, download SUVI V6 from HERE . Extract the first zip, and you'll get an instructions.txt file as well as the flashable zip. Copy the flashable zip to your SD card.
5. Boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset and then flash the zip of V6. Allow the process the complete, and then you're ready.
All credit goes to bsuhas and Micromax. Thank bsuhas most certainly on XDA if you like his creation. You can do that HERE.
UPDATE: The password for extracting the initial archive is 'bsuhas' (without quotes), which is already mentioned in the XDA page. Still, I'm posting it once again for convenience.
