Enlightenment

Enlightenment

Say, my tired friend, will you not take a moment to pause
And reflect on the truth of your suffering's cause?
Are you not weary of this tricky game called life,
Willing to end it all, sorrow, grief and strife?

But then, think again, and look within your heart,

Seeking the divine glow beyond grime and mud and dirt,
Beyond the mysteries of mere flesh and blood,
The eternal awareness that is forever brightness-clad.

What lie is black enough to eclipse truth's radiant sun
Which is your true self, oh noble, valorous one?
Ending the falseness of night, you are conscious dawn,
For you yourself are the immortal spirit reborn!

Will you not look beyond the cause of worry and shame?
Beyond the anxious lethargy of mind's eluding game?
Will you not welcome the birth of a new day,
Lit by compassion's aura and the spirit's inward ray?

Yes, You shall! For are you not the luminous light,

That drove away darkness, ending the blackest night?
Wise and strong, you can correct every wrong,
For you yourself are the immortal soul all along!

You are the soul imprisoned inside the cage

Of body, and the thoughts' endless maze.
But you are beyond the fragile extent of your frame,
For you yourself are truth, and salvation is your name!

So be brave, oh noble one, and trust what I speak,
Because in all glory, you yourself are what you seek!
