After using their android devices for a couple of days, many users find a strange issue, they can't just download or update anything from the Google Play Store. It also affects those who might have shifted from one ROM (maybe the stock one) to another, or just upgraded their stock ROM. The main reason behind this problem is the apparent incompatibility between Google Play Store Services and the updated user configuration files.
One of the temporary fixes many speak of nowadays is to remove the Google account of the user from Settings, and re-adding it. While this might solve the issue for some, most of the users find this just a temporary solution. After re-adding the account, they manage to download/update using Play Store, but after a few minutes, the same problem recurs, with that disgusting error message "Error: could not retrieve information from server" or something similar, even though you have a working internet connection.

The permanent fix for this problem is to erase the data of the Google Services Framework process. So, flex your fingers and get to work. :)
- Go to Settings menu, and select 'Storage' option. (Going to Apps directly won't take you to the required service).
- Now, under "External SD card", select 'Apps', and a list of installed apps and services will be displayed.
- Open Google Play Store, click on 'Force stop'. Now, click on 'Clear Data'.
- Now get back to the parent menu (Apps under External SD card) and select 'Google services framework'.
- Force stop it, and then clear its data using the same way.
- Now reboot your system.
Hopefully, this will help you get back your much beloved access to Google Play Store.
