My poem on the Bengali new year

Subho Naboborsho

While I don't usually write Bengali poetry, and this is one of my very early experiments, I couldn't resist adding a small bit of my own verses, no matter how humble they may be, to celebrate the Bengali new year 1420. I also published it on facebook, as Anirban Chatterjee (that's the real 'me' there). Here's it, in Roman Script:

Naboborsho

Nivrito E Hridoyo Hote Bondinu Nuton Borshe,
Jaagroto Hok Momo Chetana Tobo Amolin Sporshe,
Dristi Jethai Uriya Je Jai Sudurero Sesh Prante,
Setha Hote Aaji Ano Upohar Puratoner ei Onte.

Eso eso aaj nuton bochor somoyero kol hote,
Eso eso vese raatriro seshe asha nirasher shrote,
Eso eso aaj sundorotomo eso Moder majhe,
Esho anonde esho ullashe podmo-polash saje,

Eso eso Aaj Niye Upohar, Ashar Ujjal Alo,
Sei Prodiper Sikha Moder Moddhe Tumi Jaalo,
Niye Jao Sob Lojja Sokol, Dao Nutoner Daan,
Jaagroto Hok Moder Majhete Anondomoy Gaan.

Andhokarar Raatri Katiye Uthuk Jege Robi,

Bongobhumir Hridoyomajhethe, Amar Mohan Deshe.
