Why Narendra Modi's victory really matters

Today has indeed been a day of joy for all of us. We witnessed the first step to the emergence of India as a great power, a position that our glorious motherland deserves! And we witnessed history being made today, when the grand leadership of Shri Narendra Modi smashed the ruinous coalition of UPA, that had practically doomed the nation in the last 10 years. 

However, what comes to my mind is a monologue from the film Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, which said something like "The worst thing about good times is that, they must end. Similarly, the best thing about bad times is that, they end as well!". And today, after witnessing the spectacle myself when the votes were being counted, I realized the meaning of the statement once again. 

The decade-long night of underdevelopment has ended. What we have in front of us, is a glorious, golden, gleaming dawn, a dawn lit by the aura of hope, by the undying flame of unity, by the light of patriotism. It's the tenure of Narendra Modi, the man who shall rightly lead us to glory. 

Why Modi?

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and even more so, they need capable men to lead us. As Plato said, will you leave the wheel of your ship, especially when you're sailing across a stormy sea, to an imbecile? No, no and a resounding no! Likewise, this crucial moment needs someone like Modi. 

Just a while ago, a (sort of) quote came to my mind, which I used in one of my pieces a couple of months back. When the moment of need approaches, the need of the moment presents itself, and it's absolutely true in the case of Mr. Modi. Right now, India needs a government that can take the reins of the nation, steering us to victory against all the problems we face, collectively as a nation. And who else is better than Mr. Modi, to lead us there? 

Thus, the moment of need is this, and the need of the moment, Mr. Modi, has revealed himself to us. Following a decade of corruption and restless whining (the work left to rot, of course), we now need someone to take the right decisions in the right manner. And Mr. Modi is the man of the moment. 

The leader of the nation

A decade ago, when Mr. Vajpeyee's NDA alliance was defeated, thanks to the backstabbing by the CPIM (well, what more can be expected of them?), I was stunned. And I was practically paralyzed with grief after the 2009 election results. I knew that something was wrong, somehow the UPA coalition wasn't working, but couldn't prove it. I was too young to talk other people into changing their political views at that time, and thus make them see the truth. The wind of the UPA was everywhere. 

However, today I realize that the darkest hour must pass before a new dawn approaches. And those were those hours. We had stood boldly those days, and today the dawn has arrived. Today we have a leader, as a nation. 

If you're a theist, you can easily call Narendra Modi the expression/extension/materialization/manifestation of the will of Bharat Mata/God/Allah/Yahweh. And who or what can resist the will of the Almighty? Thus, the Almighty's Will has materialized itself, Modi being the result. 

And if you're an atheist, you can still hail Modi as the leader that he is, because he's (in a way) the product of *Natural Selection*, applied socio-politically. He's among those many leaders of the BJP and NDA as a whole, who had to face the challenge of facing a powerful, dynastic body that somehow managed to win the hearts and minds of the people. Almost everyone got decimated, some fled and joined, but Narendra Modi remained bold. He managed to hold the viciousness of his opponents as bay, while securing his eventual and inevitable rise to power. Thus, through natural selection, the very Mother Nature has chosen Modi to lead India. He's passed the tests, and he's the one with shinning records. He's the potential solution to our problems. 

What should you and I do?

Do whatever you are doing, but keep in your mind a sense of purpose. In his speech in Ahmedabad, Mr. Modi rightly called us all to hold true to our oaths and purpose. No matter what you're doing, when you're doing your job, you're contributing to the nation. As Swami Vivekananda said, if you're a fisherman, be a better fisherman. 

Let us together pray for a better nation, under the guidance and leadership of our new Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
